One thousand twenty minutes is the goal. Per day. That’s 17 hours. If you can be genuinely grateful for 1020 minutes per day, your life will unfold with ease, you will be fun to be around and you’ll sleep like a baby during the 7 hours you have left each day.
But, c’mon, that’s ridiculous! 17 hours a day? That’s crazy talk! Yes, it is…so how ‘bout 120 minutes a day? 60? Maybe start with 5. You gotta start where you are, and wherever you are is perfectly okay. If it just hasn’t been your thing, no problem. You have even more upside! The key is to exercise your gratitude muscle more each day, regardless of where you are on the gratitude scale. It gets easier and easier, and it’s infectious.
OH, THIS IS IMPORTANT: You can’t fake gratitude. Kind of like a fake smile, it doesn’t work. Gratitude can’t be forced. Gratitude is either genuine, or it isn’t. You can’t be “counting your blessings” because you’re supposed to. Or because you “should.” This isn’t about doing what’s “right.” It’s about doing what’s useful… to you. You will feel better. Your life will unfold with greater ease. One thousand twenty minutes is just the goal. Start where you are. Keep it real. Feel GENUINE gratitude. Deep and real… about anything. About everything.
